Unbiased Independent Appraisals
IGI is independent of all commercial sellers and sales organizations and is not engaged in buying, selling, or trading diamonds, gemstones, or jewelry. This neutrality permits IGI to provide unbiased, accurate appraisals, appraisal-updates, and identification reports. Our appraisers are accredited by the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and continue their education by attending courses and conferences each year.
Appraisal values are based on real-time surveillance of price structures in use throughout the market, supported by national and international wholesale conditions and cost data. Value forecasts and market diversity are also considered, in the interest of long-term consumer protection.
IGI offers appraisals for insurance coverage, estate tax, equitable distribution, marketable cash, and financial auditing purposes.
Appraisal Reports
IGI’s Appraisal Report identifies and describes the gem or jewelry article. This includes weight, measurements, shape, cut, finish, proportions, clarity, color, and quantity of precious stones (when applicable) as well as identification, content, and weight of the article’s precious metals. The piece is documented with a color photo and for diamonds 0.95 ct. and above a clarity plot is included. The Appraisal Report states IGI’s estimated retail replacement value for insurance purposes.
Consumers, retailers, jewelers, insurance companies, public accountants, financial planners, and estate executors can be assured of the most reliable and accurate gemological Appraisal Reports available today, thanks to IGI’s advanced technology and superior expertise in the field of gems and jewelry.
Designer Appraisal Reports
The Designer Appraisal Report was developed to serve a growing need among studios to have designs screened for decisive verification that all diamonds and gemstones set in their pieces are natural. With more insurance companies requiring third-party appraisals for high-value articles, these independent reports are useful protection for clients of quality-minded designers and brands.
The Designer Appraisal Report is a co-branded document which can incorporate the designer’s logo, trademark and service mark, a customized brand description and contact information. The report identifies and describes the article’s gemological details, including weight, measurements, shape, cut, finish, proportions, clarity, color, and quantity of precious stones (when applicable) as well as identification, content, and weight of the article’s precious metals. The piece is documented with a color photo and for diamonds 0.95 ct. and above a clarity plot is included.
Summation of Appraisals
The Summation of Appraisals (SOA) denotes each jewelry article’s important gemological factors including the identification and quality of diamonds and the authenticity and weight of precious metals. A color photo of the article is included with each summation. IGI’s seal of inspection is attached to each article of jewelry and, upon request, the unique SOA number and IGI logo will be engraved on the ring’s shank for identification purposes.
IGI’s Summation of Appraisal is available in several formats. The credit card size format fits perfectly into IGI’s jewelry box for an elegant, thorough presentation.
